Prismatic / by JC Buck

West Colfax

I have always thought these bus stops were cool, but never realized what they represented.

"Prismatic," designed by Denver artist Emmett Culligan represents the seven colors of Newton's color spectrum. The shelters are located between Federal and Sheridan and are placed in order of the spectrum from red to violet.

The stainless steel columns are interesting, they were formed by blowing hot compressed air into steel. I also thought it was pretty neat to learn that the design was a modification of the existing bus shelters. Culligan replaced the siding with the colored plexiglass and attached the "inflatable" steel columns.

If you didn't know the seven colors of the spectrum, now you do!
